About Ruth N. Halls
“Is God vengeful, demanding a death for a death? Or is God compassionate, luring souls into love so great that no one can be considered ‘enemy’?”
–Sister Helen Prejean

By Tim Robbins
Based on the book Dead Man Walking by Sister Helen Prejean

Directed by Dale McFadden

The Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center proudly opens its season with Tim Robbins’s stage adaptation of his Academy Award-winning film. Dead Man Walking chronicles the real-life story of the fearless and inspirational Sister Helen Prejean as she shepherds a convicted murderer through the final days before his execution. Confronting powerful and controversial social and human issues through the lens of spirituality, Dead Man Walking challenges perspectives on capital punishment and asks us to plumb the depth of humanity in everyone.
