Book, Music, and Lyrics by Andrew Lippa
Directed and Choreographed by George Pinney
Adapted from a Jazz Age poem by Joseph Moncure March, The Wild Party captures the spirit and sensuality, the vitality and violence of the Roaring Twenties. In an attempt to punish her abusive lover, showgirl Queenie throws a debaucherous party designed to make him jealous. The resulting cavalcade of drugs, alcohol, and promiscuous sexuality drives the play to its dangerous climax. Deftly blending 1920s jazz with a more contemporary sound, Lippa’s score boasts a stunning freshness that carries the original poem to new heights.
