About Whit Emerson

Whit Emerson received his B.A. in Theatre Arts from Appalachian State University and his M.A. in Theatre Studies from the University of Central Florida. Whit lived in China for three years teaching English and learning Chinese. His research interests include staging identity, modern theatre in Hong Kong, stage violence, and the historical European avant-garde. Whit has worked in the theatre as an actor, director, producer, fight choreographer, dialect coach, playwright, sound designer, and dramaturg. He has presented papers and held workshops at academic conferences on contemporary Chinese theatre, Tai Chi, translation, and Cultural Revolution Dramas. Whit is from Orlando, Florida.
