A welcome from incoming Chair Linda Pisano
Welcome to IU Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance!
As the incoming department chairperson, I’m thrilled to share with our audience the opportunities on offer to experience the creative and scholarly work of our students and faculty on our upcoming season.
We look forward to bringing you a season that ranges from classic plays produced in new and poignant ways to world premieres of original work from our playwrights and choreographers. In 2018-19 we will have the opportunity to experience Professor Dale McFadden’s directorial swan song The Heiress, the premiere of second-year MFA playwright Kaela Mei-Shing Garvin’s new play, and the debut of second-year MFA director Rachel Nicole Pierce in her production of Vinegar Tom. We also look forward to participating in Themester this fall with Professor Murray McGibbon’s production of Edward Albee’s The Goat, or Who is Sylvia.
As new and veteran voices combine to share stories of the human condition on our stages, I hope you will join me in celebrating the many students who have dedicated their education—and our faculty and staff who have dedicated their careers—to creating and producing musicals, dance, and plays in our beautiful Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center. Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Professor Jonathan Michaelsen for his fourteen years of dedicated leadership to our department.
We look forward to seeing you at the Theatre!
